Valentines Day: Etsy Card Finds

One of my favorite Valentines Day past times comes from when I was just a wee one. Back when kids were nice to each other and before they had time to form prejudices and unjust anger towards each other. I loved going to the store and picking out the pack of Valentines Day cards I’d be handing out to my classmates. Robots with hearts, Scooby Doo or maybe Bugs Bunny.
Now that I’m grown there’s only a few people that get cards from me, so I like to make sure they’re extra special. As always my favorite place to find these special cards is Etsy.

My personal favorite, I Hate Everyone But You card. It says oh so much with just a few little words.

You have a little more than one week to make sure you find that special someone(s) something great for Valentines Day. Buying handmade and local is a great way to support those artists that work hard for their craft.

Share Your Love – Handmade cards for Etsy

It’s that time of year again. Cupids arrows are slicing through love filled air to land so perfectly into a lovers heart, causing that lover to love another. And so on. It’s a vicious cycle Cupid starts every February. My craft table has never before seen so many hearts. Felt hearts, construction paper hearts, sculpey hearts, even cookie cutters shaped like hearts. What can I say? I’m exceptionally inspired this Valentines Day to create until my hearts content.

Get it.. hearts content..

Last Valentines Day I participated in a little something called “Special Delivery: Share Your Love” on Etsy. If you aren’t familiar with this little lovefest, let me enlighten you. The lovely people of Etsy work with Citymeals-on-Wheels to bring meals, handmade greeting cards and most importantly  companionship to elderly New Yorker’s on Valentines Day. When I first heard about this project, my heart melted and I had to be apart of it.

{The owl card is actually left over from my submission last year. I hand drew the owl, made copies of him onto cardstock paper, and sewed the felt hearts on by hand}

Needless to say, the past 2 weeks I’ve been busily trying to finish up cards to send in by the February 7th due date. I tried to make my cards have a very “handmade” feel this year.

I also of course have to give the biggest shout out to the love of my very own life Kh, who single-handedly wrote out every Happy Valentines Day on all (20+) cards I made. My handwriting is less than desirable when it comes to others reading it.

If you get the opportunity to make your own cards, or even if you want to purchase some and send them into this project, just visit the link here for more information. It really is an amazing project and I’m so excited to be part of it.

Stay tuned later today for a little DIY tutorial on how I made my handmade cards.
