A New Year: New Goals

Resolutions? Not so much for me. I always felt that you can evoke change in yourself and in your life on any day of the year, not just the changing of the calendar.

Last year I managed to complete 2 of my goals, which in total isn’t too bad. I bought 3 plants, and managed to work away at my debt. I know, pretty lofty accomplishments. I did take steps towards crossing off the others, that counts for something.

My goals for 2012 include:

  • Create more traffic to my blog
  • Finalize my etsy shop
  • Purchase a new camera
  • Work on my savings
  • Travel more often
  • Create more DIY’s
  • Find an apartment with a bathtub
  • Volunteer/Get more involved with the local arts community
  • Find more part time work pet sitting
  • Create a piece of art every month
  • Read more often
  • Start taking more pilates/core fusion/yoga classes
  • Find a local tattoo artist
  • Take more time for myself
  • Enjoy the smaller moments
  • Laugh more

I think I have a lot to look forward to in 2012. So, for my last post of this year, Happy New Years! I expect great things.

2011: My Year In Review

I find the best thing about the onset of a New Year is the time you spend reminiscing about the year that has passed, and the excitement of what’s to come.

2011 was a good year for me as a whole. The lows were mid-level at best, and the highs scaled mountaintops. I started a blog, I made baby steps towards going back to school, I got a new job and even a part time job on top of that. Kh and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary then Kh met my family (and I met Kh’s..). I turned 25 in New York City, and was spoiled rotten.

Friends came to visit, and others left my life for the better. It’s been a rather short year, and I’m surprised to see it go.

I hope you have as much fun looking through these photos as I had digging them out of the archives. Here’s my 2011 in photo form!

A Confetti Filled Roundup

Every New Year’s I try to do my most prized activity.. relaxing. A good movie, an even better dinner and a bottle of wine makes for a great way to ring in the New Year in my eyes. My love of relaxing far surpasses the desire to stand in a crowded bar.

While I don’t want to stand in a crowded bar, I do love the idea of throwing confetti at complete strangers and celebrating the merriment that ringing in a New Year brings. Hooray, we surived 2011!

To celebrate my love of confetti, here’s a mini DIY roundup for those that share this love.

{Confetti Eggs}

{Countdown Matchbox Confetti}

I can’t pick a favorite between the two! I really like the idea of these plantable confetti, especially combined with one of the DIY’s above. How cute!

{Plantable Confetti}

If confetti isn’t your thing, here are a couple great New Years Eve printables. Such a good idea for those that are entertaining this NYE!

{NYE Party Printables}

{Party Hats Printable}

Whatever you end up doing this New Year’s eve, whether it be entertaining, being entertained, or going out, I hope it’s a safe and happy one!

Goodbye 2011, Hello 2012!

(Where did time go?)

Product Review: They’re Real! Beyond Mascara

I’m often a little hesitant to try brand new products, It’s hard to make a commitment and even harder to make a decision. Lucky for me I got this brand new They’re Real! Beyond Mascara in my stocking this Christmas.

You mean I get to try out new products, and have someone else make the decision for me? Perfect!

Product Description:

They’re real! lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts & separates. Our jet black, long-wearing formula won’t smudge or dry out. A specially designed brush reveals lashes you never knew you had!

Now, who doesn’t love the sounds of that? I love my eyelashes to be long, and full of volume. I’m naturally a red head so without mascara on, my eyelashes are blond and very hard to see. I often like to joke and claim I like having spider legs for eyelashes.

How to Apply

Position wand horizontally & wiggle from side to side, base to tip, to achieve maximum volume, length & lift. Hold wand vertically & stroke upward to curl & separate. Layer generously as desired.

I found the mascara incredibly easy to apply, and even easier to wipe off my eyelids. I make an awful big mess when I put on mascara.

The percentages on the package read:

94% saw dramatic length & volume – I can attest to that! I love how much length it gave me and for every day wear it was the perfect amount of volume. I’m sure with a bit more precision you could really amp up the volume.

90% saw base-to-tip curl – My eyelashes don’t have much of a curl to them, but the mascara certainly threw a bit of a curl onto them.

94% saw visible lift – Lifted, seperated, the whole 9 yards!

100% saw long-wearing results – I’ve had the mascara on since this morning. My lashes are still full.

I think it’s safe to say, I’m in love with a $22 bottle of mascara.

Quote Of The Day

Every Monday I put out a weekly newsletter for my associates. In the newsletter I always include a little inspirational quote. This week, I was particularily fond of the quote I used.

Happy Monday, start dancing!
